Andy found Castagneto in the early ‘90s, and brought his Motorola cycling team here for a training camp in his pro days. Simply put, it is the best of everything in Europe– riding, food, folks, relaxation, and a splendid countryside.
Our goal is for riders of differing fitness levels to enjoy riding through rolling hills at a mellow spring pace.
Off the bike focus will be on local places that produce food and wine—with cooking lessons and wine tastings— and plenty of time to relax by the salt-water pool.Book this tour
We’ll pass the week at our favorite family wine estate in the Bolgheri DOC with private chefs, and yes, a bit of wine geeking with the locals. There are several apartments with multiple rooms and shared common spaces, and five single rooms throughout the estate. Each bedroom will have a private bathroom, although in some cases the bathroom will not be located within the bedroom.
This tour is great for cyclists and non-cyclists alike. Rides will be in the morning and will return to the estate for a group lunch each day. The estate and surrounding area is great for walking or running and town bikes are available for those looking to stretch their legs individually from the group rides. Cooking lessons will alternate between mornings and afternoons to allow for everyone to participate.
Cooking classes will be taught by various local cooks either on the estate or with Chicca Maione of Cooking in Tuscany at her home kitchen. Lessons with focus on local traditions with simple recipes that we can cook at home using fresh, seasonal ingredients. Lessons taught at the estate will be available to the entire group while lessons with Chicca are limited to 10 people, with non-cyclists having priority to attend.
