The Great Blur

We hold to our pattern and spit out another blog post some three years later. No news is good news?? Perhaps more truthful is that we just aren’t good at keeping it regular. Anyway, three seasons have blasted right on by. We went from a very abbreviated 2021 to a very full and vibrant 2023. We’ve traversed the Dolomites, enjoyed the beauty of southern Italy, experienced the quiet grandeur of Abruzzo & Molise, and happily stayed close to home in Tuscany. And all in great company.

We suffered great loss in the passing of Gerardo, whom many of you know as Il Barone, in 2022. Gerardo was a dear friend, a father-like figure, a grandfather to our kids, and a fixture in our lives. He guided alongside us since the very beginning of Cinghiale and it’s likely that if you came back on a second tour he was part of the draw. We carry on the joy he shared every day and on every tour. He will be forever and deeply missed.

Life keeps moving forward and we intend to keep offering an amazing experience for our guests. We continue to explore new regions— most recently Calabria— and maintain the goal of finding the quiet, less touristed areas to conduct our tours. We are thankful for the privilege of living in Italy and the generous hospitality that this country and its people have always showed us and our guests.

And, as rumor has it, it is true that Andy will retire one day… so don’t wait too long to join us in Italy!
